Hamas issued a statement strongly condemning the Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar, that attempted to assassinate the leader of the Hamas negotiating delegation, calling it a “heinous crime” and a “blatant violation of international law.” The statement noted that the attack not only attacked Qatar’s sovereignty but also undermined the important role played by Qatar and Egypt in mediating a ceasefire and personnel exchanges between Israel and Palestine, further exposing the possibility that the Israeli government would deliberately sabotage any agreement.
