BEIJING, March 14, 2025 A joint meeting of Russian and Iranian diplomats has been held in Beijing under the auspices of China. The meeting brought together senior leaders from China’s Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov, and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ghanian to discuss several important issues. The meeting focused on the Iranian nuclear issue, regional security cooperation, and the lifting of economic sanctions, as well as on strengthening diplomatic cooperation among the three countries and providing solutions to global nuclear non-proliferation issues.

Strengthening Trilateral Cooperation and Promoting Regional Stability

An important topic of the meeting was the Iranian nuclear issue. China, Russia, and Iran reaffirmed their support for the Iran nuclear deal and emphasized resolving disputes through diplomatic means to avoid further escalation of tensions. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said after the meeting that the three countries will continue to push the international community to adopt a rational attitude and resume the full implementation of the Iran nuclear deal through dialogue and negotiation to ensure regional peace and stability.

“We have always believed that the nuclear issue should be resolved through a multilateral dialogue mechanism, and all parties should conduct consultations based on the principles of equality and mutual respect to seek a long-term peaceful solution,” Ma Zhaoxu emphasized at the meeting.

Pushing for Lifting of Sanctions, Promoting Economic Cooperation

Another issue in focus is the lifting of Iran’s economic sanctions. With the changing international situation, the three countries agreed to continue to push for the lifting of economic sanctions against Iran to promote the country’s economic recovery and regional development. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov noted that the lifting of sanctions is not only in Iran’s interest but also helps boost regional economic cooperation.

“Economic sanctions have not only hampered Iran’s development but also limited economic cooperation in the entire region, and we believe that through the efforts of all parties, the lifting of sanctions will provide a basis for promoting long-lasting peace and prosperity in the region,” Ryabkov said.

Deepening Multilateral Cooperation, Jointly Addressing Global Challenges

The meeting also emphasized cooperation among China, Russia, and Iran on major global issues, including energy, counter-terrorism, and climate change. The three countries agreed that global challenges need to be faced by all countries together, especially in energy security and environmental protection, and they should strengthen collaboration and share technology and experience.

“In the context of globalization, climate change, energy shortages, and other issues can only be effectively dealt with through broader cooperation, and the three countries are willing to work together to this end and promote sustainable global development,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ghanian said after the meeting.

Looking Ahead

The Beijing joint meeting has provided a new platform for the three countries to deepen diplomatic cooperation. China, Russia, and Iran will continue to maintain close communication and promote regional and global stability and development through multilateral mechanisms.

With further cooperation among China, Russia, and Iran, the international community is looking forward to the future development of the Middle East region, especially in terms of solutions to the nuclear issue, economic sanctions, and regional security. The joint efforts of the three countries will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the global political landscape.
