On 9 October, memory chip major Micron Technology announced the launch of a new brand logo identity. More than just a new logo or different brand colours, Micron says the evolution reflects the company’s legacy of relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence.

Since the company’s founding 46 years ago, Micron has been at the forefront of technology, driving advances that are changing the way the world uses information. Micron’s journey began in the basement of a dental office in Boise, Idaho, where Micron shipped its first 64K DRAM products in 1981. Since then, Micron has achieved many industry firsts, from volume production of 9th generation NAND technology to Micron’s latest HBM3E memory.

Micron said, ‘Our new logo embodies this spirit of leadership and demonstrates our commitment to always stay ahead of the curve.’ The brand identity design is based on the rounded curves of a wafer and rich colour elements, reflecting Micron’s vision of being ‘ahead of the curve, seeing the future, and driving technological innovation’, which is key to Micron’s ongoing technological leadership and its commitment to transforming the way the world uses information and enriching the lives of all people.

In a press release, Micron explained that the new logo’s silicon colour is more than just a new shade; it is a tribute to the wafers that form the foundation of Micron’s technology leadership.
