The 2025 World Agrifood Innovation Conference (WAFI) commenced from October 12 to 15 in Pinggu District, Beijing, and at China Agricultural University. Centered on the theme “Practicing the Grand Food Vision, Building a Resilient Food Supply System,” this international gathering brought together 280 international guests from 94 countries and regions, including world-class scientists, educators, entrepreneurs, and leaders from industry, academia, and research institutions.

This conference adopts a “1+7+1+N” overall framework, comprising 1 opening ceremony and plenary session, 7 thematic conferences, 1 World Agricultural Science and Technology Expo, and multiple parallel sessions and international exchange activities. Thematic conferences include the World Agricultural University Presidents Forum, World Agricultural Scientists Forum, Agri-Food Industry Innovation and Investment Forum, and Agri-Food Industry Entrepreneurs Forum, comprehensively covering all aspects of agricultural science and technology innovation. Centered on the theme “Practicing the Grand Food Vision, Building a Resilient Food Supply System,” the conference addresses challenges facing global agri-food systems in climate change and sustainable development. This conference features multiple thematic exhibition zones, including national pavilions, international pavilions, global corporate showcases, and research institutions’ displays, comprehensively showcasing the world’s agricultural technological innovations. Adhering to the principles of “low-carbon, smart, and people-oriented” event management, the conference implements the “5R” approach—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Compost/Dispose, and Refuse—to promote green and sustainable conference practices. Additionally, signature events like the WAFI Low-Carbon Run and WAFI Agri-Food Market offer attendees smarter, more eco-friendly experiences. As the host district, Beijing’s Pinggu District will leverage this opportunity to accelerate the development of its Zhongguancun Agricultural Innovation Hub.
