The highly anticipated 2025 Africa International Agriculture Expo (AIAE 2025) will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 28 to 31, 2025. Under the theme “Gathering Global Agricultural Wisdom, Charting the Future of World Agriculture,” this expo aims to strengthen mutually beneficial international agricultural trade through innovation and market access, pragmatically advancing global agricultural cooperation.
Co-hosted by AGRI-AFRICA EXHIBITION LIMITED and HONGXING SPARKLE AFRICA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION & EXHIBITION CO., LTD., the event has secured robust support from numerous international organizations and government bodies, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. This formidable backing lays a solid foundation for the expo’s success. Opportunities and Challenges in African Agriculture
Agriculture holds a pivotal position in Africa’s economic landscape, contributing 23% of the continent’s GDP and maintaining an average annual growth rate of 4% in recent years. Concurrently, Africa possesses a significant demographic dividend, with its population projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050, creating a vast market for agricultural development.
However, Africa’s agricultural development faces numerous severe challenges. Despite holding 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land, its agricultural output accounts for only 10% of global production. In sub-Saharan Africa, annual expenditures on food imports reach as high as $35 billion. This substantial supply-demand gap underscores the urgent need for African agriculture to enhance productivity and improve industrial chains.
This expo centers on addressing Africa’s agricultural development challenges. It transcends conventional “exhibition outreach” by leveraging two national-level cooperation platforms: the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the China-Africa Deep Cooperation Pilot Zone. It represents a national-level innovation in agricultural cooperation with Africa, aiming to internationalize the proven experience of the Central China Agricultural Expo. This initiative seeks to inject new momentum into agricultural collaboration between China and Africa, and globally.
The Kenyan government has accorded this expo the highest priority, designating it a “key project for agricultural transformation” and establishing a dedicated inter-ministerial task force. Simultaneously, the Kenyan government has actively invited ministerial-level agricultural officials from five neighboring countries to participate, jointly strategizing for Africa’s agricultural development. The Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Commerce has even brought an advance “East African Agricultural Products Procurement List,” fully demonstrating African nations’ keen anticipation for this expo and their proactive stance toward agricultural cooperation.
Diverse Exhibition Zones, Gathering the Essence
Spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, the expo is held at the Tsavo Ballroom and outdoor courtyard areas of the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi. The exhibits cover multiple key sectors across the entire agricultural industry chain, with six meticulously designed exhibition zones.
The event is projected to attract 300 exhibitors and approximately 10,000 professional buyers from around the world, with total attendance expected to reach 15,000. Delegations from over 40 countries and major agricultural investors will convene to explore new opportunities and pathways for agricultural development.
With Africa’s population continuing to grow, the potential of its agricultural market will be further unlocked.
