China will Become the World’s Largest Holder of AI Patents by 2025

AI empowers thousands of industries

China is currently the world’s largest holder of AI patents, with over 5,000 companies. The AI market is expected to exceed 700 billion yuan in 2025. It is estimated that by 2030, the scale of China’s core AI industry may exceed 1 trillion yuan, driving the scale of related industries to exceed 10 trillion yuan.

“AI+” Empowers: New Development Blueprint

The vision of “AI+” is moving from concept to reality, opening up new possibilities for transforming our lives. Images created using media-free holographic technology transcend the traditional display’s reliance on screens. They can assist doctors in visually viewing lesions in three dimensions and create virtual interactive classrooms for teachers. These applications are being applied in various fields, including automotive, healthcare, and education, enhancing the human-computer interaction experience.

While AI is reshaping the consumer experience, AI-driven equipment innovation is rewriting traditional operational models in emergency response, a field crucial to urban safety. This new firefighting drone offers a new solution to the challenge of extinguishing fires in high-rise buildings.

From “air interaction” to “high-altitude rescue,” AI’s empowerment is extending to the very core of urban governance.

This world-first 5G+ RF direct-drive passive sensing IoT system not only solves the challenges of difficult wiring and high battery replacement costs associated with traditional sensors, but is also adaptable to explosion-proof and high-risk scenarios like petrochemicals and underground mining, filling a technological gap in sensor monitoring for these special environments.

AI Empowers Green and Efficient Energy Development

Artificial intelligence has not only brought new experiences to our lives but has also achieved remarkable leaps forward in the energy sector. What changes can AI + energy bring us? Just how intelligent and green can energy development be with the help of AI?

At the construction site of Shendi Tako 1, China’s first 10,000-meter exploratory well, an AI algorithm analyzes parameters such as torque, rotational speed, and geological bedding in real time during drilling. By building a three-dimensional geological model, it dynamically adjusts the drill bit’s direction, increasing drilling efficiency by 30% and precisely controlling the wellbore trajectory error to within 5 centimeters.

If AI makes deep-earth exploration more precise, then in oil and gas development, intelligent systems make resource utilization more efficient. China’s first “integrated underground and surface dynamic simulation system” uses digital twin technology to construct a comprehensive model of underground oil and gas reservoirs, wellbores, and surface pipelines. This system, acting like a weather forecaster, accurately predicts reservoir distribution, guiding engineers in optimizing water injection strategies. It also functions as a flow monitor, monitoring the oil, gas, and water mixture within the wellbore in real time and providing early warning of water and gas breakthrough risks.

While improving development efficiency, artificial intelligence (AI) technology has become a key enabler for the petrochemical industry to achieve a green and low-carbon transition. At Sinopec Shengli Oilfield, an intelligent system integrating carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology with digital twins uses AI algorithms to optimize temperature and pressure parameters for carbon capture, improving capture efficiency. It also uses digital twins to simulate the diffusion path of CO2 injected into the reservoir, enabling the simultaneous advancement of oil recovery and carbon storage.

From Raw to Finished: AI Reshapes Tire Production Process

Manufacturing is the foundation of the real economy. With the deepening integration of “artificial intelligence + manufacturing,” the entire tire production process, from raw materials entering the factory to finished product rolling off the assembly line, is being completely reshaped by AI technology. This “smart revolution” happening on the factory floor is a vivid microcosm of China’s transformation from traditional manufacturing to “intelligent manufacturing.”

At a tire factory in Yantai, Shandong, China, every tire is embedded with a microchip “identity card.” From raw materials entering the factory, through the production process, to finished product shipment, data from the entire process is collected in real time and uploaded to an AI management platform. Behind this full lifecycle traceability lies the synergy of intelligent sensors and AI algorithms throughout the factory floor.

In addition to upgrading quality control, AI technology is also making the physically demanding tasks of tire production more intelligent. In the molding workshop, tire blanks, which once required the combined efforts of workers, are now handled by intelligent robotic arms and unmanned transport vehicles. After the robotic arms precisely grasp the blanks, the unmanned transport vehicles automatically plan the optimal route along magnetic tracks, smoothly delivering them to the next process.

The full penetration of AI technology throughout the entire production chain has led to leaps in both production efficiency and product quality. Through intelligent transformation, this factory has increased tire production efficiency by over 30% and reduced its defective rate by over 50%.

The latest report data shows that by 2025, the penetration rate of digital transformation in China’s manufacturing industry had reached 68%, and smart factories have driven an average increase of over 25% in production efficiency across key industries. The integration of AI+ into traditional manufacturing will not only revitalize the industry but also steadily advance the “Made in China” to “Smart Manufacturing in China.”
