Israel Strikes Qatar, Faces Global Condemnation

UN Secretary-General: Airstrike is “Blatant Violation” of Qatar’s Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Israel’s attack on Qatar at a press conference held at the UN Headquarters in New York, the United States.

Guterres stated, “I condemn Israel’s act of blatantly violating Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

He added that Qatar has been playing an active role in promoting the reaching of a Gaza ceasefire agreement and the release of detained personnel. He urged all parties to make efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, rather than “undermining” the negotiation efforts.

The European Union (EU) stated that the airstrike launched by Israel against Hamas leaders in Doha violates international law, undermines Qatar’s territorial integrity, and may further escalate violence in the region.

According to Iranian media reports, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi strongly condemned the attack, describing Israel’s action as “illegal” and “inhumane,” and stating that it has destroyed all diplomatic attempts.

A spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said, “Israel’s this action is a continuation of the crimes committed by this regime in violation of international norms.” The act infringes upon Qatar’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and also constitutes an attack on Palestinian negotiators.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a statement, condemning Israel’s military attack on Qatar and describing it as a “barbaric act.” He pointed out that the strike is a blatant violation of international law, an act that escalates tensions, and a serious threat to regional security and stability. Abbas reaffirmed that the only way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
