On October 22, Huawei officially released its new-generation operating system, HarmonyOS 6, drawing significant attention. The latest news reported that HarmonyOS 6 continuously optimizes and significantly innovates in terms of new architecture and system features, further unleashing the potential of the HarmonyOS.

Firstly, the new HarmonyOS Application Intelligent Body framework, Galaxy Interconnect architecture, Galaxy Shield security architecture, Ark Engine, and others work together in HarmonyOS 6, bringing smarter proactive services, high-speed, low-power consumption cross-device collaboration, full-link security protection, as well as comprehensive upgrades in system and gaming experiences.

Simultaneously, the ecosystem of applications is becoming more robust, with innovative features continuously iterating. Leading internet applications have been fully adapted, and several popular national-level applications have completed major upgrades. Among them, top partners like Tencent and JD.com launched innovative features first on HarmonyOS 6. A vast number of mid- and long-tail applications are also accelerating their adaptation, continuously improving the ecosystem and ensuring worry-free daily use. This progression makes the HarmonyOS experience evolve from “usable” to “easy and pleasant to use,” truly integrating technology into life scenarios and providing users with a better experience. Starting October 22, HarmonyOS 6 began its gradual rollout for the first batch of over 90 models, allowing numerous users to experience the richer system features. Users can apply for the early access upgrade directly in the System Settings under Software Update or on the homepage of the “My Huawei” App.

Looking back at the growth journey of HarmonyOS, its development is inseparable from the fertile ground of Dongguan. In 2019, HarmonyOS was officially unveiled at the Huawei Developer Conference held in Dongguan. In 2020, Huawei launched the new brand HarmonyOS Connect for smart hardware ecosystem partners. In 2021, HarmonyOS 2 was fully applied to various terminal devices like smartphones, becoming the fastest-growing smart terminal operating system in history. In 2022, HarmonyOS 3 advanced further around five major scenarios, introducing significant upgrades in Super Device and HarmonyOS Connect. In 2023, HarmonyOS 4 focused on enhancing intelligent connectivity capabilities. In 2024, Huawei released HarmonyOS 5. As of October 22, the number of terminal devices equipped with HarmonyOS 5 has exceeded 23 million.

Nearly every iteration and update of HarmonyOS has taken place in Dongguan, demonstrating to global developers and tech enthusiasts the continuous growth and refinement of the HarmonyOS, step by step building its all-scenario ecosystem framework. Huawei has also established a major R&D and production base in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, where many of its consumer electronics products originate. The deep “integration” between Huawei and Dongguan has not only propelled the agglomerated development of Dongguan’s electronic information industry into a pillar industry with a scale of trillions of yuan but has also provided strong support for the R&D, testing, production, and market promotion of HarmonyOS. Numerous innovative applications and technologies based on HarmonyOS have also been born on this land.

From breaking new ground to becoming mainstream, Dongguan, leveraging its industrial advantages, policy support, and the foundation of long-term close cooperation with Huawei, will join hands with Huawei and numerous ecosystem partners in the future development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem. Together, they will promote the HarmonyOS ecosystem to reach new heights and create more possibilities.
