In the current, increasingly fierce competition in the action camera market, Chinese tech giant DJI (DJI Innovation) has once again become the focus of attention for global imaging enthusiasts. Although the official has not yet officially announced the existence of the Osmo Action 6, several “leaked information” and “technical rumors” about this new device have been widely circulated in the industry, covering multiple aspects such as sensor size, video performance, intelligent connectivity, and appearance design. Although its authenticity remains to be verified, various signs suggest that DJI may be preparing a flagship action camera with a significant performance leap.
According to the latest reports from multiple technology media outlets, the Action 6 is expected to be equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor, becoming one of the first products in the current action camera field to use a sensor of this size. Compared with the 1/1.3-inch sensor of the previous generation Action 5 Pro, if the new model really adopts a larger sensor, it will achieve significant improvements in low-light environment imaging, depth of field control, and dynamic range performance. According to leaked information, Action 6 May support up to 8K 30 frames per second video recording, and be compatible with high frame rate modes such as 4K 120 frames per second and 1080p 240 frames per second, providing professional creators with greater post-editing space and creative freedom.
In addition to the improvement in core imaging capabilities, leaked information also indicates that the Action 6 may be equipped with a brand-new generation of RockSteady 4.0 stabilization algorithm, combined with AI-driven HorizonSteady 360° horizontal correction, which can maintain picture stability even in high-speed motion scenes. Internal sources say that DJI may introduce a neural network recognition algorithm in stability technology, enabling cameras to automatically determine the direction of shake and correct it in real time to handle complex scenarios such as extreme sports, skiing, and diving.
In terms of intelligent interconnection, multiple leaks have mentioned that Action 6 will support deep integration with smartwatch devices such as the Apple Watch and Garmin. Users can perform operations such as remote control, mode switching, video recording, startup, and status monitoring through the watch. What’s more attractive is that the movement data recorded by these wearable devices (such as speed, heart rate, route, and height) may be synchronously superimposed with the video, achieving a dual-dimensional display of “movement data + images”. If this design comes true, it means that the boundary between action cameras and health tracking devices will be further broken, bringing an unprecedented interactive experience to extreme sports users.
Meanwhile, the rumor also mentioned that the Action 6 might have 64GB of built-in storage space and support microSD expansion. The interface part may be upgraded to USB-C high-speed output to meet the transmission requirements of 8K video files. Its wireless communication capability is expected to be enhanced to the level of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, further optimizing the connection speed and stability. In terms of protection, the leak stated that Action 6 will have an IP68-level waterproof performance and can dive to a depth of 20 meters without a casing. To address the heat issue caused by the large sensor, DJI is said to have adopted a new graphene heat dissipation structure inside the body.

In terms of appearance, the currently leaked spy photos show that the overall shape of the new device is similar to that of the Action 5 Pro, but the body is slightly thicker, and the lens frame has a more metallic texture. Some photography bloggers speculate that this design change might be related to a larger sensor and an improved cooling system.
However, despite these rumors having been widely spread on social media platforms and in video communities, DJI has yet to confirm any information related to the Action 6. As of October 8th, DJI’s official website, news center, and certification channels have not released any new product preannouncements or registration documents. There are no relevant model filing records in the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) database of the United States, either. Industry analysts point out that this might imply that Action 6 is still in the testing or mass production preparation stage, and the release window could be postponed to the end of 2025 or even the beginning of 2026.
It is worth noting that brands such as GoPro and Insta360 have also successively updated their product lines in recent months, making market competition increasingly fierce. If Action 6 indeed features higher image quality, greater stability, and intelligent interconnection functions, DJI will undoubtedly once again lead the innovation of motion imaging technology. Some industry comments suggest that this yet-to-be-released new product may become a key turning point in the “intelligent era of action cameras”.
At present, all the information about Action 6 is still unofficial leaks and rumors. Before DJI’s official announcement, any configuration and price may change. But, certainly, DJI is still constantly pushing the technological boundaries of motion imaging devices, attempting to integrate image quality, algorithm stability, and an intelligent ecosystem into an integrated system. As late October approaches, many foreign media outlets predict that DJI may release more clues before the end of the year.
Although Action 6 has not yet been released, it has already sparked heated discussions in the global tech circle. No matter what the final specification is, it represents users’ expectations for higher imaging freedom and deeper intelligent interconnection. While waiting for the official release, the market has already started to warm up – and DJI, perhaps, is quietly building up momentum for the next leap in the action camera industry.
